Tiyana Dashields, better known as Tiy Licciardi, is the owner of Licciardi Wear. She’s a 16 year old "Diverse" female with a passion for music and fashion. When she was 7, she wrote her first lyrics to a song. She states, “I'm not a "rapper". I'm an artist because when people hear me they see and feel the power of my art.” She launched Licciardi Wear on October 16th in 2014. Tiy got her start through a classmate who had his own (Beyoncé based) line. He was looking for people who wanted a clothing line or a shopping boutique. Days before talking with the kid about the clothing line, she decided that she wanted to have something going for herself, she was tired of sitting at the bottom waiting on a dream to find her. Licciardi wanted something more, needed the money and wanted an empire. So she asked her God father for help, because he has always supported her in everything that she does. Tiy Licciardi says she has always been into fashion and when she was younger, her sister would always tell her that she dressed weird or "go change your clothes you aren't going with me looking like that". Tiy mentions that she suffers from depression daily and uses music and fashion to help her cope with it. She says, “I was always the trouble kid in my family… I was the one your mom would say ‘stay away from’. Eventually, I changed, of course. I was looking for a business to get extra money and to get me out of my daily struggles. But it turned out that I found a passion in clothing. I'm willing to take it far; I'm willing to connect with other aspiring designers, as well because everyone deserves to make it.” She plans to take Licciardi wear further by opening a store before she’s 18 and having her music together as well. Tiy plans to achieve all of her goals with the help of her team: her family, manager, promotion team and support team.
Q: Do you want to help other people that struggle with depression?
A: Yes, of course because I feel that everyone is entitled to happiness, it doesn't matter what you've been through or your past mistakes. Depression is powerful, it can knock you down but it's guaranteed that the fall is temporary especially with faith, patience & God. So, yes, I'd love to help people that suffer from depression through my lyrics and clothing.
Q: Do I want to give back to charity?
A: Yes, every child and every situation deserves peacemakers and in situations where I'm able to help financially or mentally, I'm there.
Q: What is your favorite genre of Music?
A: I love multiple Genres. From Pop, Hip hop, R&B even Rock helps me cope.
Q: Who is your favorite Artist & why?
A: I’d have to say my Favorite Artist is Nicki Minaj. I've seen her growth from the "come up DVDS". Her success is so outstanding especially because of her iconic lyrics. Those lyrics pretty much helped with my depression. Her legacy has had such an impact on my life because I noticed she represented my favorite slogan I created a while back "S2S" which stands for Struggles to Success. I am also obsessed with her style…well I'm more obsessed with the modern style, you know the Pink Wigs, Harajuku style. I really love her for her diversity and confidence that has helped me since the 5th grade.
Q: Who is your fashion inspiration?
A: My fashion inspiration has to be Jeremy Scott. His ideas are so unique & fetch, you can't find uniqueness anywhere these days. The fact that he was the first man to put teddy bear-fabric on a sneaker shows it all. I'm also in love with the Moschino collection. It's so beautiful & amazing when I first saw him on the Adidas commercial with Nicki Minaj I couldn't help but check out some of his stuff and when I did I fell in love.
Q: Where do you see your clothing at the end of 2015?
A: I honestly see my clothing doing limitless things. I see a lot of famous people wearing my clothes.
Q: Dream collaboration music & Fashion?
A: My dream collaboration for music would have to be: Tink, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Drake & A$AP Rocky. My dream collaboration for fashion would have to be: Giuseppe, Trukfit, Last Kings & ItsJermeyScott.
Looking at Tiy Licciardi’s clothing line I can see why Renasia Couture (Fvmous Clothing) referred her to me. Her line is Nicki Minaj based but she has a variety of other things as well. She has some Nicki clothes I would definitely wear and if you know me then you know I love Nicki, especially mixtape Nicki. Warning 2007 is probably one of my favorite songs from her and everyone loves her Monster verse, no denying her talent. So her line is definitely worth checking out. Now, I’ve had a chance to talk to Tiyana and she’s a wonderful bright young girl, with some guidance she can achieve all of her goals (which wouldn’t be that hard because like I said she’s very bright.) When talking to her I gave her some tips and pointers because I truly want to see her be successful and she took them with open arms. I’m kind of shocked that she did because I’m not much older than her and some young people (including myself) have a hard time listening to people that aren’t much older than they are. But I guess if you’re serious about being successful you’ll listen to anyone you think is giving you good advice. I’m truly amazed at how focused she is at 16 because at 16 I didn’t even know what I was going to wear to school the next day and we wore uniforms (ba dum tss (lol I’m so corny)). But seriously she knows what she wants to get done and she is placing herself in an arena to do that. As a kid, I had my own problems…I was the biggest problem out of the kids in my family and I was the only girl, so I know where she’s coming. I mean I probably didn’t have it as rough as her but my problems were real just like hers are and she’s dealing with them with grace. Tiy is fighting a battle every day and winning and if she can battle depression and win there’s nothing she can’t do. I just hope she stays in school, graduates high school, goes to college and gets a degree in business. Knowing you have a degree is so rewarding and a great feeling. I almost didn’t graduate high school so when I got my degree I was the happiest person ever. I said that to say: Yes you can be successful without one but having a degree is just the icing on the cake. Ya feel me?
